In the summer of 2001 Daniel Oberreuter sat down to change the strings on his Martin guitar with a fresh set. Unknowingly, this would change his life forever. After doing so he wrote his first Catholic song and thus was born The Thirsting...
The Thirsting is not your typical band. Actually there is nothing really typical about the band at all! The short history is that The Thirsting was founded by band leader Daniel Oberreuter in the summer of 2006 and has been rocking Catholic music ever since. In January of 2007, the Thirsting released their first EP titled No Greater Love and in 2008 The Thirsting released their first full length album titled Companions of the Lamb. Companions of the Lamb is one of the best Catholic Rock albums released to date. The album packs a punch with Catholic rock gems unlike any heard before in the Catholic music world.
But going deeper into The Thirsting reveals a much bigger picture and future for the band. The mission of the thirsting is to inspire a revolution among Catholics to totally surrender their lives to Jesus Christ in the Eucharist and all the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, through Mary and the rosary. This mission is the crux of the band and the purpose for the existence of The Thirsting. The Thirsting wants to light a fire in the Catholic Church that is completely focused on Jesus in the Eucharist through Mary and the rosary. It is through the rosary as Oberreuter preaches at concerts that peace will come to our hearts and the world and that we will know the great love of Jesus Christ. That we must pray the rosary daily is the battle cry of the Thirsting. Will you be a part of this revolution?
